Hitzfeld dismisses England rumors
MUNICH, Germany -- Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has quashed media speculation linking him with the England national job.
English press reports named the German as the Football Association's prefered candidate if Sven-Goran Eriksson quits after next year's Euro 2004 finals.
But Hitzfeld told German television: "No-one has been in touch with me about this and I wouldn't be especially interested in the job in any case."
The 54-year-old, who has won four Bundesliga titles and one European Cup since joining Bayern in 1998, is under contract with the Bavarian giants until 2005.
Eriksson has been offered a contract until 2008, but has refused to commit himself to anything beyond Euro 2004.
