Man kills terminally ill wife, himself at hospital
CHULA VISTA, California (AP) -- A man apparently shot his terminally ill wife to death at a suburban San Diego County hospital Friday, then killed himself, police said. No one else was injured.
The man was visiting his wife, a patient at Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista, shortly before 8 a.m. when two shots were fired, police Lt. Buddy Magor said.
"It appears to be a mercy-type killing," Magor said. He said the woman had a terminal illness.
There were no witnesses to the shooting.
