ROME, Italy (AP) -- Police in the Naples area have arrested seven alleged mobsters, including an actor who played a boss in an award-winning movie denouncing the mafia.

Saturday's pre-dawn raids targeted the Naples-based Camorra crime syndicate and netted alleged members of a clan linked to the gangland-style killing of six African immigrants last month.

Police said in a statement that those arrested were not directly linked to the deadly shooting, but were suspects in other attacks and crimes.

Police official Rodolfo Ruperti says the suspects include an actor who portrayed a local boss in new film "Gomorrah."

The study of the Camorra's widespread power won second place at the Cannes Film Festival this spring and is Italy's hopeful for a best foreign language film at the Academy Awards.
