From: Dana Schwartz/CNN Subject: House gives new dollar coin final congressional approval On a unanimous voice vote, the House of Representatives today gave final congressional approval to a bill to replace the Susan B. Anthony coin with a new dollar coin. The bill does not address the controversial question of what image will adorn the new coin. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin will have final say on that matter. Some in Congress, like original sponsor Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.), and Sen. Alfonse D'amato (R-N.Y.), advocate the Statue of Liberty for the coin. Others, like Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun (D-Ill.) and Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) say a real woman like Sojourner Truth should be on the coin. Congress decided to drop the Susan B. Anthony coin, minted from 1979 to 1981, because it looked and felt too much like a quarter, confused people and wasn't popular. By law, the mint must make a dollar coin, and according to the Treasury Department, their supply of Susan B.'s will be depleted in the next 30 months. In Other News:Thursday Nov. 13, 1997
