CNN Presents: Black in America
CNN Presents: Black in America
How does it feel to be black in America?

That is the question CNN Worldwide tackles in its unprecedented 4-hour documentary series. CNN Presents: Black in America. Forty years after the death of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., CNN Presents takes an unprecendented look at the state of black America. The success, struggle, pain and pride. How far has it come? How much is left to be done?

The Black Woman & Family -- premieres Wednesday, July 23, 9 p.m. ET
Theirs are stories of struggle and success, of great joy and great sorrow. Meet the Rands -- a diverse family with both black and white roots -- a microcosm of what it means to be black in America. CNN followed the Rands for more than a year -- their highs and their lows. It's a journey that led us far beyond just one family to broader issues of health disparities, the impact of HIV/AIDS, the education gap and the taboos of interracial marriages and single black women choosing not to marry.

The Black Man -- premieres Thursday, July 24, 9 p.m. ET
Fifty years ago, Little Rock Central High became a battleground in the struggle for civil rights. CNN goes back to Little Rock to look at the state of black men in America through several black men of the LRCH class of 1968. For a deeper perspective, the sons and grandsons of these men are profiled to explore the realities and perspectives across generations. What has changed for these men since the assassination of Dr. King? What is the status of "the dream"? CNN investigates the most critical issues and obstacles affecting African-American men today, dispelling myths and taking a hard look at some disturbing statistics.
