(CNN) -- Christopher Reeve has been hospitalized for treatment of a small blood clot behind his left knee, the actor's spokeswoman told CNN.
The star of the "Superman" films, who was paralyzed from the neck down in a horseback riding accident, is expected to be released within the next few days, the spokeswoman said Thursday.
She said Reeve, 44, was being treated at a hospital on the East Coast, but declined to divulge his exact whereabouts or release additional details.
Reeve suffered a near-fatal injury when he was thrown from a horse during an equestrian event in May 1995.
Since his condition stabilized, Reeve has maintained a busy schedule, campaigning for rights for the disabled and most recently directing a film.
He has also signed on to provide the voice of King Arthur in an animated movie called "The Quest for Camelot." The film is scheduled for release in late 1997.
