HOLLYWOOD (CNN) -- With a brand new prime-time sitcom airing
after the popular Drew Carey show on ABC, Norm Macdonald
shouldn't have much to complain about: He's both the producer and star of a show that bears his name.
On "The Norm Show," which airs Wednesdays on ABC, Macdonald plays an ex-hockey player-turned-social worker -- his character's sentence for gambling and tax evasion -- on "The Norm Show." Emmy Award-winning Laurie Metcalf of "Roseanne" co-stars, as does Ian Gomez, who landed a full-time job on Norm's show after guest starring on "The Drew Carey Show."
So life is good for the former "Saturday Night Live" comic, who was best known on that show for his delivery of the "Weekly Update" segment. He shared his unique brand of humor in an interview recently with CNN's Jim Moret on Showbiz Today.
