U.S. military power for possible NATO airstrikes:
U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, give the following breakdown for what the United States has committed to the NATO strike force:
Total U.S. planes: 260, of which many are strike aircraft
Land-based: 120, including F-15s, F-16s, and EA6-B's already in Europe, as well as 2 B-2s from Whiteman AFB, Missouri; 6 B-52s from Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; 12 F- 117s from Holloman AFB, New Mexico.
Support planes: 10 reconnaissance; 10 search and rescue; 3 airborne command and control; 40 refueling.
Sea-based: 72 planes on the aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower; 46 strike aircraft (F-14s and F-18s); 26 support planes.
