NEW YORK (CNN) -- Paris designer Karl Lagerfeld bids farewell to the House of Chloe with a fall collection that can only be called out of this world.
He foregoes a traditional runway, replacing it with a solar-system set in which his models drift through floating galaxies as they display his designs.
As for the clothes, Lagerfeld offers a down to earth selection of easy knits and tight tailoring.
"The farewell collection is very Chloe and I put them in kind of an other world. It's like the planet of fire," Lagerfeld says.
The colors revolve around rusty oranges, browns and grays. Prints are inspired by the moon, the stars, the sunset and moonlight.
"Something like sunset before the night starts," he explains. "It's all about the sky, the moon, the planets."
The shapes are fluid and feminine with strong shoulders to give definition.
Lagerfeld uses a new type of jersey mixed with crepe to get the fluid movements in his collection.
"There are even dresses without one seam, all of the bias (is) draped on the body," he says.
His final touch is the high heels his models wear.
"The heels are high and with Chloe, they are invisible," he says. "They are invisible so they float the girls because they're up in the stratosphere."
