Rooms filled with soft and light -- Campbell's London home
September 30, 1998Web posted at: 6:50 p.m. EDT (2250 GMT) From CNN Style Correspondent Elsa Klensch LONDON (CNN) -- A fantasy of fabrics is the catch phrase that defines the philosophy of interior designer Nina Campbell. She is known for her deliberate contrasts of colors, patterns and textures. She applies her idea to her own home, a residence in Chelsea that she shares with the youngest of her three children.
They moved into the home just over a year ago, and Campbell immediately went to work restoring it. Built in 1870, the house is in a conservation area, surrounded by other historical buildings. "It's a rather nice street because it's wide -- you've got trees in the street," Campbell says. "The other thing is that (the homes) are all painted white so there is a lot of light reflection. "And being on a corner, the sun just pours in everywhere, which is wonderful." | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
