SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) -- A California court has ordered Microsoft to stop modifying the Java software language and use the version invented by rival Sun Microsystems.

The judge made the ruling in the early stages of a lawsuit in which Sun accuses Microsoft of illegally modifying the software. Will computer users see any difference?
