GABARONE, Botswana (IDG) -- Apple Computer Botswana has donated Macintosh computers and software to a disability center here as part of an effort to build goodwill and address the issue of inadequate infrastructure available to disadvantaged persons.

On the occasion of the recent donation to Otse Disability Center, Fehmida Essack, general manager of Apple Botswana, said the gesture was made to help the mentally and physically disabled learn and study better. He added that he hoped the move would enhance the employment chances of the beneficiaries.

As another part of its education support program, Apple is providing student placements to tertiary level students in IT fields every year.

Essack also said that he believes Apple Botswana is privileged to play a significant role in the future of Botswana education in IT. "Youth are so important to the country in terms of development," he said.
