BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Now to Albany, New York. Jurors there resume deliberations today in the trial of four white New York police officers charged in the shooting death of an unarmed black man. CNN's Maria Hinojosa, covering the trial in Albany, New York, and now joins us live with the latest from there. Maria, good morning. MARIA HINOJOSA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Bill, the jury is expected to start deliberating in about another 15, 20 minutes or so. And they will be expected to put in another 14-hour day. The tension and anxiety increasing with every hour that passes in this racially charged case. The jurors diligently asking for very specific read-backs, a very specific testimony. Today, they will hear from the two officers who each fired 16 rounds at Amadou Diallo. They will also hear from a police expert for the defense, who said that they were justified in their actions. They will also hear about the case of -- the issue of justification given to them by the judge. The judge told the jury that, under New York state law, if they thought the officers were acting in self-defense, then they could be justified in taking this action. Defense lawyers, like everyone else here, trying to understand the jury's actions. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) JOHN PATTEN, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: It appears to us that they are really going by an order. And they are going right down through the charges -- right down through the judge's charge. And I think they're right on the numbers as they are going through. (END VIDEO CLIP) HINOJOSA: Meanwhile, in New York City, continued appeals for calm as the city awaits the verdict. Amadou Diallo's family, his mother very specifically asking for unity and that everyone not tarnish Amadou Diallo's name. There has been the resurrection of a shrine set up in the vestibule where Amadou Diallo was shot at 41 times. Here, the jury will continue to deliberate until they reach a verdict, or until 11:00 p.m. tonight. Reporting live from Albany, Maria Hinojosa, CNN.
