| Morning NewsCNN20: Hurricane CoverageAired May 1, 2000 - 9:37 a.m. ETTHIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. (BEGIN VIDEOTAPE) JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT (on camera): I like hurricanes, the power that you see. The other thing about hurricanes is that you can experience them with some degree of safety if you know what you're doing. In a hurricane, if you get in a good strong steel construction and concrete building that's high enough up, you can weather it out. I just think -- I've always been interested in communicating about hurricanes. There is one shot of me, arm around a telephone pole -- it was a light pole actually. And with that wind blowing like that, it was intense. At one point we interviewed a guy on the street, who had come, he was an emergency management guy from the center state, who had come to observe a hurricane, and we're holding on to each other as we're conducting the interview. It wasn't that bad a storm. We could pretty much feel like we could stand there and have some degree of safety. Apparently, a lot of people called in and had some concern for our safety or intelligence. But it was a great opportunity to communicate just what a hurricane is live. This is what CNN can do that other people can't, because they're not on the air all the time. (BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) FLOCK: But just very, very serious conditions. This may be our last live report, because I don't think we're going to be able to get through this. (END VIDEO CLIP) FLOCK: They're just fascinating to me.
