In a scene eerily reminiscent of the Oklahoma City bombing, two U.S. government buildings today were the targets of an apparent terrorist attack. This time, half a world away, the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. (END VIDEO CLIP) CATHERINE BOND, CNN NAIROBI BUREAU CHIEF: The car bomb in Nairobi partly destroyed the U.S. Embassy here. It was almost totally destroyed, Mfundi (ph) House, which was the building next door to it, and brought the glass of the tall tower call Cooperative House, which was next to that. And it was in Mfundi House that more than 90 Kenyans died. In all, more than 200 Kenyans died, as 12 American citizens in Nairobi, whilst in Tanzania, seven Tanzanian employees of the U.S. Embassy died, but no Americans. Onlookers, local Kenyans who were just passing by, and pitched in, and tried to remove the concrete rubble, which had fallen on top of the people in Mfundi House. The United States government blamed Osama bin Laden, the Saudi national, who was living in exile in Afghanistan. And they said that he was responsible for putting up the people who were later caught and transferred to the United States, where they are pending trial for the two bombing of these embassies.
