Neighbors Remember Victims of Suburban Boston Office Shooting

Aired December 28, 2000 - 10:09 a.m. ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Now we take a closer look at the victims, the people who lost their lives the day after Christmas.

This report now from David Muir from WCVB.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

DAVID MUIR, WCVB REPORTER (voice-over): Several cars were parked outside Janice Hagerty's Stoneham home as loved ones gathered inside comforting Hagerty's husband Daniel and 20-year-old daughter Erin (ph).

Janice and her husband attended St. Patrick's Church, and neighbors like Charlena Bukis (ph) remember them as a wonderful couple.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Really good people. They were good people. They didn't bother anyone.

MUIR: Thirty-six-year-old Paul Marceau was a member of the company's consulting team and lived here. Friends say the divorced father now leaves behind two daughters 8 and 10 years old. They say he loved cycling and often rode for charity.

Rose Manfredi was a payroll worker. Family members gathered at her Lexington home to mourn her death. Neighbor Bob Kannath (ph) remembers Rose's youthful beauty.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Oh, gorgeous, yes. When her and her daughter were in the back yard, you couldn't tell the difference between the two of them until, you know, you got up a little bit closer, and then you know the mother from the daughter. But they're both very, very pretty girls.

MUIR: And Craig Wood's friends are remembering him today as an all-American guy who loved soccer. They can't believe he's gone.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He'd do anything for anybody. He was a great kid. And we can't believe this is happening. It's just been hard for everybody. I'm still in shock.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

KAGAN: And that report was filed by David Muir from our CNN Boston affiliate WCVB.

Once again, there will be a memorial service tonight for friends and families of the victims who lost their lives.
