LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- A judge imposed a "gag order" Friday on lawyers and witnesses involved in the Ennis Cosby murder case.

Charles Lindner, an attorney for defendant Mikail Markhasev, said all witnesses under the lawyers' control are included in the gag order.

The restriction on what involved parties can say about the evidence or facts of the case came as part of a discovery hearing before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John Reed.

Markhasev, an 18-year-old Ukrainian immigrant, has been charged with murdering Cosby on January 16. The only son of entertainer Bill Cosby was shot by the side of a southern California freeway while he was changing a flat tire.

Before the gag order was made, another of Markhasev's attorneys, Darren Kavinoky, said there appeared to be no fingerprint evidence linking his client with the gun. Kavinovy said he based his claims on records of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The district attorney's office declined to comment.

Markhasev is due in court May 1 for continuation of his arraignment.
