LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- A Continental Airlines jet with 285
people on board hit turbulence over the Pacific Ocean
Thursday afternoon, injuring at least six people, three
seriously, and forcing the Hawaii-bound flight to return to
Los Angeles International Airport.
Paramedics met the plane and treated the injured on board, a
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
The DC-10, Continental Flight 75, was 150 miles off the
California coast on its way to Honolulu when it hit "moderate
to severe turbulence" at an altitude of 33,000 feet, said
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mitch Barker.
Arrangements were made for the remaining passengers to board
another plane for the trip to Honolulu.
