U.S. official to meet Kurdish leaders

ANKARA, Turkey (CNN) -- A senior United States official trying to negotiate a cease-fire between warring Kurdish factions in northern Iraq is expected to meet with Kurdish leaders in Ankara on Tuesday.

The meeting comes as Talabani's Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has retaken some territory lost last week to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

Meanwhile a PUK spokesman told CNN that the group wants a cease-fire, but accused the KDP of breaking a previous truce.
