Welcome to the Weather FX Blog
Spring to me always signifies the start of something new and fresh, a time to get outdoors after my winter hibernation (I’ve lived in the southeast US too long as the winters here are hardly severe…), so what better time to launch our new show "Weather FX"! Plus, as host of the first show, I was going to be filming outdoors – well, I’m not daft…

First we had to decide our main theme for show one – and believe me, with so many major weather events taking place regularly around the world, it wasn’t an easy decision, but we agreed on La Nina as this particular phenomenon is currently affecting millions of people all around the globe.

La Nina, which comes from the Spanish meaning ‘the little girl’, is very simply, unusually cold ocean temperatures in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean – the effects of La Nina are however, anything but simple and that is what we explain in this first show.

Of course we don’t stop there! Ever fancied a behind the scenes tour of exactly what we do at the World Weather Center? Well this first show takes you on that tour, no tickets to buy, no bus to board, but all from the comfort of your armchair …

Then we come to you – weather affects each and every one of us every single day and so our new show simply wouldn’t be complete without hearing from you, so every month we will be answering your weather questions and showing a selection of your iReport pictures and video. Of course we use your input on a regular daily basis, but in the show it’ll be the best of the best! So keep them coming!

And it doesn’t stop there, but I think I should……don’t want to give it all away before you’ve tuned in to watch…..every month we’ll have a new topic and give you an in depth look, but that’s for another time.

Well, in typical Atlanta weather fashion, today is chilly and cloudy after a gloriously hot, sunny day yesterday – when we were out filming….well, I’m not a weather forecaster for nothing…….

Glad to see you finally got your own weather show, way to go guys!
I'd like to see CNN Weather include not only highs but also lows in temperatures. It's useful for us not used to the cold. This might be too late; winter season is almost over.
In your first weekend on the air you got a tornado in the studios. Great show, but it should be weekly. There are plenty of weather and climate news to produce a weekly show.
I LIKE WºFX!!!!!!!!!

is too educational!, im wondering when i can watch it on CNN.com Live Online!!!!!
Great Show!! Magnifique!
It is great to see the weather team in action.
*clapping* Bravo, Bravo! Love the show. A few small notes if that is ok.

1. Can you also add for educational purposes, what one has to learn to become a Meteorologist? Starting from the basics and the instruments used.

2. Please include the Caribbean area with respect to what weather is experience throughout the year.

3. As the Hurricane Season is about 3-4 months away, education in preparation for this season is essential for everyone. Even if people are tired of hearing of it. We sometimes forget.

Again, thank you for helping us understand Mother Nature on her best and worst days.
It is awesome that you have launched a weather broadcast. It is very cool! I wish you the best of luck with it and many viewers!
Loved your show, it's one of the most unique programmes on CNN
I'm sitting here in Kuwait watching CNN with some co-workers and we are getting a chuckle out of the coverage of the Atlanta tornado. Such a big deal seems to be made of what I can see as a "minor" storm. Talk of damages close to $2M. Wow, in the grand scheme of things that isn't a lot. A reporter was just in a mall and the food court was not buzzing with people getting their coffee. Give me a break. I guess it's a bit of a break from 3 days of watching Obamas pastor and his racist rants or the senator from NYs hooker who will be an instant millionaire. What is going on in the United States.
Good blog, I'm meteorologist in Andorra TV. Greetings from this part of Europe.

The show is excelent. I learn alot from it. Is it possible that we (people outside america)get international airtimes like CET etc? I find it had to convert the ET times to CET. I don't want to be left behind the shows.

Thank you.
I love this show! Keep up the great work for future editions. It's just such a shame that Femi Oke has now left CNN - weather will never be the same again without her.

Good luck Femi, wherever you're going next.

Could you do a story about global cooling or at least that there is no such thing as global warming.

Sounds like a wonderful programme. It would be nice if the video was posted at CNN.com. People in the United States can't see the show since the International channel is censored here.
MARK TWAIN ONCE SAID THAT EVERYBODY TALKS ABOUT THE WEATHER BUT NOBODY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. UNFORTUNATELLY IT IS TRUE. I LIVE IN AN AREA OF LITTLE SUNSHINE AND I AM FED UP WITH THAT.I AM HOPING THAT ONE DAY WE WILL BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE WEATHER
When is the next episode of Weather FX going to be? Please post it here so that I can ensure I do not miss it.

Thanks.
I loved the show. Keep it up.

I've always wanted to know what direction is implied in the daily forecast pages of your weather forecasting. Is it that the winds are blowing 'out of NNE at 6miles an hour', or is it 'the winds will be blowing to the NNE at 6 miles an hour'. Appreciate the help and cudis to the more deatil oriented weather reporting this season.
Thanks
