The bat-wing B-2 stealth bomber has never seen combat and has been much criticized for its high price tag -- $2.2 billion a plane -- and outdated mission.

The Air Force touts the B-2 as able to strike 16 targets on one mission. The planes are based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. They have a crew of two or three.

B-2s have, in exercises, flown from their base at Whiteman AFB to Kuwait, dropped satellite guided bombs and returned to Missouri, demonstrating the ability to hit intercontinental targets from bases in the United States.
