Harry Potter: boon to reading or dangerous warlock?
October 20, 1999 (CNN) -- Scottish author J.K Rowling's book series about Harry Potter, an orphan who attends The Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, has created a sensation on bestsellers lists, and a row between parents and educators who adore or detest young Harry. Potter praisers love the story, including the recently released "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban." They credit the three Harry Potter books for instilling reading enthusiasm among young readers who otherwise would never pick up a 450-page novel. But faultfinders with the fantasy books consider them dangerous avenues into darker realms, and say they encourage interest in witchcraft and the occult. Should the world's most popular magical orphan run for president or be banned from schools? Watch this video package from CNN & Company guests as they cite everyone from Peter Pan to Cassie Bernall to buttress their argument.
